Currently, there are no state-funded programs providing breast health services to women. As of July 1, 2010, the state of California suspended indefinitely the Every Woman Counts program leaving 1.2 million uninsured women without access to potentially life-saving breast health services. There is currently no resource for women without insurance to get a mammogram and we expect the elimination of the Every Woman Counts screening program to dramatically impact our resources. This program offers services such as gas cards, grocery cards and financial assistance with household bills. In addition, participants receive a Survivor Toolkit. This toolkit offers tools to assist women in organizing the flood of paperwork and information along with other items that have proven useful to other survivors.
