Self Help Groups are FREE and Open to All

Have you been recently diagnosed with or are currently going through treatment for breast cancer? Are you a breast cancer survivor? Many women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer feel alone and that no one in their personal support circle can truly understand what they are going through.

Our Self-Help Groups are a safe haven where women can come together with a trained, experienced facilitator in a safe, welcoming environment. You can gain so much by talking to other women on journeys similar to yours. Our Self-Help Groups offer women the opportunity to be open with their experiences, concerns and questions and to learn from and support each other. Share experiences or just listen. We have four separate Self-Help Groups each month - three are open to all and one is specifically for women with metastatic cancer.

"Circle of Friends" Survivor Network

  • Our caring group of trained volunteer survivors offer one-on-one support and a willingness to listen to your concerns.
  • Make regular encouragement calls to women undergoing treatment to ensure that they know that they are not alone.

Lymphedema is a common side-effect of breast cancer treatments and can be managed through the use of sleeves and wraps.

Rebecca Ward, from The Rehab Group, provides Lymphedema fittings monthly at Michelle's Place. Rebecca has been a licensed physical therapist with The Rehab Group for 7 years. She has been practicing physical therapy and lymphedema management locally for the past year and provides education for cancer survivors through various support groups.

"If there is any message I could pass on it would be to take today's opportunities and live your dreams.  I know sometimes it's hard not to be stressed out by life and bogged with minor problems.  Try to remember what matters most to your heart and be thankful for what you do have."
