Relax and feel the new energy float through your body

In alternative medicine, Reiki is a treatment in which healing energy is channeled from the practitioner to the patient to reduce stress, pain and fatigue. After Reiki sessions, clients often mention that they feel relaxed, calm, peaceful, more centered, better able to focus and more energetic.

Reiki has its roots in Tebetan, Chinese, Indian, Egyptian, Japanese and Roman cultures.  The word Reiki is composed of two syllables Rei and Ki.  Reimeans universal, it is always there, available for everybody to tap into. Ki is the energy that sustains life. Life force plays an important role in everything we are and do.  If life force is low, or if it is restricted, one is more vulnerable to illness.  When it is high and flowing freely, a person is less likely to get sick, but instead feels good about himself/herself, and the tasks at hand are welcomed with zest and creativity.

Have you been recently diagnosed with or are currently going through treatment for breast cancer? Are you a breast cancer survivor? Many women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer feel alone and that no one in their personal support circle can truly understand what they are going through.

Our Self-Help Groups are a safe haven where women can come together with a trained, experienced facilitator in a safe, welcoming environment. You can gain so much by talking to other women on journeys similar to yours. Our Self-Help Groups offer women the opportunity to be open with their experiences, concerns and questions and to learn from and support each other. Share experiences or just listen. We have four separate Self-Help Groups each month - three are open to all and one is specifically for women with metastatic cancer.

It can be intimidating joining a group for the first time but we are here for you.

Metastatic breast disease is breast cancer that has not just come back, but has made its way through the bloodstream and spread to other organs of the body, such as the bones, liver, or brain. Cancer spread may be present at first diagnosis or after recurrence. Many women can live for years with metastatic cancer that is under control. For these women, living with a diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer is like living with a chronic disease. Their needs are much different than those of a women recently diagnosed or who's cancer is isolated to the breast.

Michelle’s Place is thrilled to announce this years’ Pink and Black Spring Fling event will be held at Hangar 31 – The Wings and Rotors Museum at the French Valley Airport on May 7th.  This year Michelle’s Place is celebrating 15 years of service to the community, making this annual Pink & Black Spring Fling a celebration like no other!

Several years ago we started our endowment program "Leave a Legacy".  This year Michelle's Place has initiated a special campaign to kick-off the start of our 15th year of providing services to the community.  As we reflect on our first 15 years, and the thousands of women and families we have assisted, we know that it is critical to focus on insuring our future.

There are always opportunities for new volunteers to join Michelle's Place in our mission to help women and their families as they face this overwhelming challenge in their lives. There are a number of ways that you can volunteer to help us as we strongly believe everyone has strengths and skills that can benefit others.

On November 20th Michelle’s Place Breast Cancer Resource Center entered its 15th year of service to women and families impacted by breast cancer.

On December 1, 2015, Michelle’s Place, along with many of our local nonprofits, will participate in the one-day annual giving movement, #GivingTuesday, which focuses on charitable giving after Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On that day, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

Every year, Temecula Valley New Generations Rotary Club partners with Michelle's Place Breast Cancer Resource Center to raise money and provide Christmas gifts to children of families affected by breast cancer. For women undergoing treatment, not only are they bogged down with physical and emotional distress, but sometimes financial stress as well. The Pink Ribbon Assistance program at Michelle's Place was created to fill that need.

Go Pink this October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month! The program is simple and you can really make a difference for women and families impacted by breast cancer. Contact us today to get your Go Pink ribbons at (951) 699-5455 or email mbrewer@michellesplace.org.

"If there is any message I could pass on it would be to take today's opportunities and live your dreams.  I know sometimes it's hard not to be stressed out by life and bogged with minor problems.  Try to remember what matters most to your heart and be thankful for what you do have."
