Reviewing 2024 successes and providing full transparency of our annual report and community impact.
We hosted our first ever annual meeting on the 13th at the City of Temecula Community Room. It was an amazing team event that provided our community with an overview of our successes from 2024 and where we hope to go in 2025. Transparency is key. When you invest in Michelle’s Place, you are making a difference. Everything we raise stays right here in our community serving cancer patients and their families. We are very proud of what we do and how we do it. We continuously work toward providing the very best in cancer resources. You can watch the annual meeting by ‘clicking here’. And, our annual report is below for your review. I am happy to answer any questions you have. Simply send me an email at kim@michellesplace.org or call me at 951-699-5455. – Kim Gerrish

2024 Annual Report – Income and Expenses broken down

Client Sofie Tabesh (Now 19) spoke, sharing her heartwarming story, and experience with Michelle’s Place.
At just 15, Sofie Tabesh’s world was rocked by a cancer diagnosis that tested her spirit in ways she never imagined. After months of unexplained illness, including a fever, persistent cough, and sore throat, Sofie’s family finally found answers, but not before countless visits to urgent care and moments of feeling unheard. It was during a quiet ride on her sister’s horse, reflecting on her journey post-Covid isolation, that Sofie wrote “Day by Day”—a powerful ballad about resilience and survival.
The song’s lyrics, “Every storm runs out of rain,” offer a simple yet profound message of hope, reminding us that no matter how fierce the storms we face, they eventually pass. Sofie’s journey is a testament to the strength that comes from within when we refuse to give up. Board Director, Stefani Laszko speaks about our strategic plan.
Stefani’s review of the strategic plan, spanning 1, 3, and 10 years, paints a compelling vision of a future where “No One Faces Cancer Alone” becomes a reality. Central to this vision is a carefully structured financial plan, which starts with immediate funding through events and donations. Over time, it shifts toward long-term sustainability through strategic partnerships and endowment building. This financial foundation will ensure that no one facing cancer will ever have to face it alone.

Expanding Behavioral Health Services: A Growing Need for Support
Behavioral health services have become a critical part of the support we provide at Michelle’s Place. In the past year, we’ve offered 1,295 hours of no-cost counseling—valued at $246,050—to our clients through individual, couples, family sessions, and group therapy. This support was made possible in part by 8 intern trainees from Pepperdine University, who enriched our community with new services. These efforts highlight the increasing demand for mental health support and our ongoing commitment to meeting those needs.

Looking to the Future – Exciting Program Developments Coming Soon
As we continue our mission to ensure “No One Faces Cancer Alone,” Michelle’s Place is expanding its programs and services to better support our community. Here’s a glimpse of what’s coming:

- New Education Classes: Offering valuable educational resources to empower individuals navigating cancer.
- Expanding Education & Training: Enhancing our team’s expertise to provide top-notch support.
- Establishing Men’s Support: Creating a space for men to connect and receive support tailored to their needs.
- Strengthening the AYA Community: Expanding resources for young adults facing cancer with specialized support.
- Broadening Group Offerings: Introducing more support groups to connect individuals and foster shared experiences.
These initiatives reflect our dedication to evolving and providing comprehensive care for those impacted by cancer. The future is bright, and we’re excited to journey forward together!
“When we come together, for a common cause, we create community connection, ignite possibility, and inspire strength.”
